Fredrik von Schmalensee...

...just phoned from Spain, with a brief report. His best jump was about 415 km/h, not quite the swedish record, but a personal best. Stay tuned, a little bit more to come.

Schmalensee left for Spain early Friday morning, in an attempt to "steal" the Swedish Speed Skydiving Record from Nico Emanuelsson (Cirrus Göteborg) in the last competition of the 2005 season this weekend.

Adrian Nicholas

Er det mulig tenkte jeg da jeg sjekket innboksen og så en mail med "Tema: Adrian Nicholas", og det var det:

A friend have left us - Adrian Nicholas. You all knew him and have also skydived with him - I'm in loss of words. My thoughts go to Katarina and their daughter. I feel so empty - again a skydiving friend is lost to our community. You take care out there - stay safe.
Schwede

Åssen i helvete skjedde det, tenkte jeg videre, og logget meg på dropzone.coms "incident"-side:

Fatality: Texel, The Netherlands; Adrian Nicolas
With deep regret and sorrow we announce the death of Adrian Nicolas this saturday 17 september 2005 at around 3:30 pm.

Adrian was a highly experienced British parachutist with many thousands of jumps. During his 8th jump this afternoon he performed an expert landingmanouvre. During this correctly executed manouvre his AAD opened his reserve parachute at aproximatly 300 feet. His body was pulled in a horizontal direction because both parachutes were open. Just before he hit the ground he tried to correct this by release his main canopy. Even so he made such a hard landing that he died on the scene because of his injuries. CPR and emergency responds helicopter personel weren't able to save him. Our compasion goes out to his girlfriend, daughter, family and friends.

Gryttjom 2-Way

We have a total of 9 teams, and here they are, with their HC starting point:

Fi (20): Malin Hägglund 200 jumps, Emil Einarsson 250 jumps.
Badboll (21): Jenny Ahlsén 100, Rikard Rodensjö 800.
Säd (10): Nicolette Mankovsky 280, Henrik Hult 3000.
Blondes Have More Fun (20): Josefin Levander 150, Sofia Lundberg 200.
Do It på mage (18): Lina Forsberg 210, Ann-Marie Sjöberg 550.
Deformación Doble (25): Juan Cifuentes 116, Thomas Caldenius 100.
Team Sjölin (20): Veronica Sjölin 300, Per Sjölin 320.
Team Törnrosa (3): Jenny Rosén 1200, Peter Törnestam 3300.
50% (12, changed to 3): Martin Askelin 700, Micke Gustavsen 700.

First round is finishing up. Fi is in the lead with 54 points, Badboll got 51, and Team Sjölin is in third with 49 points when 50% is being judged...they voluntarily dropped their HC from 12 to 3 points since they've been doing 4-way all year. Good and fair call. And they got 40 clean points, and 43 with HC.

Picture: Peter Törnestam and Jenny Rosén on Team Törnrosa.

One team to go on rd 1, Deformación Doble. ..and they did 16 points and got 41 with a starting point of 25 in handicap.

By the way, the Gryttjom Record for this jump was set by Peter Törnestam, and today's judge, in 2001 with 46 points in time. Team Småfolk scored 44 in 2001, wich places 50% in third place on the ranking, if there was a ranking.

Picture: Deformación Doble with Thomas Caldenius and Juan Cifuentes.

Second round.
Fi busts to 23, for a subtotal of 77.
Badboll didn't convince the judge that they busted and score 24, for 75.
Do It på mage got 26 for a subtotal of 70.
Team Törnrosa turns 28 for a subtotal of 69.
Team Sjölin got busted to 19, and has a subtotal of 68.
Blondes Have More Fun score 13 for 52.

Waiting for video from Säd, Deformación Doble, and 50%.

Picture: Säd with Henrik Hult, Nicolette Mancovsky and Rille (video).

Video is dubbed. Säd did 29 and has a subtotal of 72. DD busted to 7, and 50% did 33 for a subtotal of 76...it is tight before the last jump.

Round three.
Fi opened the round with a nice 30-pointer (really nice for a couple of 200-250 jump wonders), and finished out with a total of 107 points, putting the pressure on the rest of the field.

Fi with members Malin Hägglund and Emil Einarsson.

50% know they can pocket the victory with a 32-pointer.

Törnrosa got 28 and ended up with a total of 97 points.
Blondes Have More Fun and Do It på magen finished with a total of 69 versus 89 points.
Team Sjölin blew the last jump and ended with 83 points total.

DD, Badboll, Säd and 50% is in the air.

Things happened fast when the last videos got dubbed, judged, and the awards ceremony was done. We had dinner, said bye-bye to the russian pilots who's stayed at Gryttjom the entire summer, and then we left for home. Here's the final competition stuff:

Säd had a terrible jump and fell from competing for the third place, to a sixth place. DD did 1 point, while Badboll did their thing and took third with a total of 97, just two points ahead of Törnrosa.

50% did what they needed to, and a bit more. They scored 35 points and won with 4 points over Fi. Remember, this was a team that voluntarily gave up a 12 point handicap because they had a 4-way team history together. Great job, and congratulations for the victory.

The winners: Martin Askelin and Micke Gustavsen, 50% of Sweet Får, the 3rd place finishers at the 2005 Swedish 4-Way Nationals.

FS2 Handicap

The 2-way handicap meet over Gryttjom is ready to launch. The draw is posted, and the weather looks fine.

The 1st and 3rd jumps has been posted a while, since the previous meet in 2001, actually. So, those have been open for practice over the years.

The first round of the FS2 Handicap meet over Gryttjom. By the way, the Norgies did a bunch of points on this jump in the Orlando Windtunnel a few years ago.

However, whether the jumper marked with white, on the 3rd jump should do the short, or long turn, was decided by a coin toss at 9 pm the night before the meet. Also, the 2nd jump was drawn in full from the pool, and even though the drawing involved different people who sms'd a number by chance, and coin tossing "en masse", it just so happened that the two first points of the 2nd and 3rd jumps ended up identical.

Have fun!

English, or our native language?

As of today, this page has four contributors. That's @, kaula, uppsalahansen and duelago. And we plan on adding some more contributors in the near future. We still need to find what language we should use here. Will it be English or our native tongue? Or both?
